SCSM 09

Completed my 5th marathon in 7:15. Not a great timing but very satisfied considering the lack of training.

Could not have done it without Mohan (Marathon Maniac doing his 78th marathon) & Mr Lim (62 year young man attempting his first marathon) who pulled me through from the 28km mark to 35km.

Thanks Mohan & Mr Lim !

Tired but feeling great !

Went for my first real run in more than 2 months. A combination of work & lack of discipline meant that I had not been running at all for more than 2 months except for a 2km jog to the MRT station to wait for my wife last night.
Asked to join my friends from the workplace for a run at ECP. Went thinking that we will be running about 6 km or so. Was conned and we ended up running close to 10km. Had to say that I was glad I came as I would not run beyond 5km if I was running on my own. Best thing was it did not hurt too much (the frequent walking at work must have help :-))
Now have to do this more regularly in order not to suffer too much during SCSM 09.

SCSM 2008

Completed my 3rd marathon. Failed to meet my target of finishing below 7 hrs (finished in about 7:08) but nonetheless satisfied with the effort.

Managed to do the first 21 km fairly comfortably but soon after the 22km mark, I tired considerably and had to walk. Walked till the 26km mark where I knew I had to run somewhat to meet my target. Decided to adopt a run 4mins/walk 4 mins strategy and was able to keep this up until the 38km when I really hit the wall. Each step hurts and it took me about 15mins to walk each km. Finally reached the Esplanade and broke into a slow jog for the last 300m.

Signed up for the Sundown Marathon on the eve of this marathon as I knew the SCSM may hurt so much that I may think twice about doing the marathon again. Did regret signing up for the Sundown Marathon in the last few km of the SCSM (when it really hurts) but a day later now, feeling much better and looking forward to training for the marathon. However, need to run more often and for longer distance. Well done to BB, Kev & EK for completing their marathons and CC did really great, finishing her maiden marathon in about 4:51 ! Well done too to KI and SH for doing their respective half marathon & 10km.

My two girls took part in the kids dash again this year and they probably enjoyed their run more than daddy although they too had to walk part of their race :-)

I did it again !!!

Went to the Saucony Warehouse Sale after work last Friday. Although I did not need any new running shoes, could not resist the bargains and bought the Saucony ProGrid Triumph 4 at $79 (usual about $150 at Queensway) and the Saucony Grid Trigon Ride 4 at $39 !!! At these prices, they were too hard to resist and should be able to get my money worth.

Dropped by at the New Balance Warehouse tonight after work. The 1061 model was going at $50 and that too was a great bargain. Convinced myself :-) that I should get it as my Mizuno Precision 8 had little cushioning left.

Real Run 08

Managed to start running more regularly recently. Did a 6km run on Monday 13 Oct, a 9 km run on Thursday 16 Oct, followed by the Real Run 15km on Sunday, 19 Oct.

Completed the 15km in about 2h 12mins, 13 mins slower than last year. I think the 4k trail section accounted for the slower timing as it was hot and I found the trail run quite "siong". Overall, happy that I completed the run in a good shape and glad to put some mileage in the bank in preparation for SCSM.

Aim to do at least 2 runs weekly, one of which should be at least 10km.

Updating blog again !!!

It's has been a long time since I last blogged. During this time, managed to take part in the Saucony Passion Run, Mizuno Wave Run, SAFRA Half Marathon & the Nike Human Race. Will be doing the Real Run 15km with Kev & EK.

Had not been running as regularly as last year and the no. of longer runs (>8km) have also reduced. Now mainly doing 4k-6k runs, on the road or on the treadmill. Must start doing longer runs inorder to at least survive the Standard Chartered Marathon in Dec.

Collected the Real Run race pack today at Velocity@Novena and signed up for the Salomon 10k Trail Run. Signing up help to keep me motivated. Saw the Nike Lunar Trainer at the Nike outlet. The neon green sole is a bit loud but read the mostly good reviews and took one of the display shoes to try and it really felt light but cushioned !
